Adani Group eyes ap’s industrial port cities

• Set to develop 15,000 MW of renewable power projects

• To bring cement manufacturing units in Kadapa and Nadikudi

• Will develop a 400 MW Data Centre in Visakhapatnam

• To double capacity of its ports at Krishnapatnam and Gangavaram

Visakhapatnam: Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has big plans for encouraging industrialisation around its ports across Andhra Pradesh.

APSEZ has acquired the Krishnapatnam and Gangavaram Ports from the developers who created the infrastructure under a BOT model with the State Government. APSEZ is the largest transport utility in India and a part of the diversified Adani Portfolio.

Karan Adani, CEO of APSEZ speaking at the Global Investors’ Summit (GIS) here said Andhra Pradesh has excellent infrastructure, talented youth and a business-friendly environment. “I congratulate the leaders of the State for having a vision on energy conservation which is recognised globally.”

He said they are active in multiple sectors, ranging from ports, logistics, power, edibles and transport infrastructure in this magnificent State of AP where ‘Abundance meets prosperity’. He said “having already invested over Rs 20,000 crore, our businesses have created more than 18,000 direct and 54,000 indirect employment opportunities in the State.”

“Adani Group’s commitment to the State’s vision of ‘port-led industrial development’ is reflected in our actions. Our partnership with the Government of Andhra Pradesh for ports is an exemplary model of public-private partnership. Currently, Adani Group operates two largest private ports that is, Krishnapatnam and Gangavaram with a total capacity of 100 million tonnes per annum. In the next five years, not only do we aim to double this capacity, but also transform these ports into Industrial port cities.”

Adani Junior said by developing industrial clusters at Krishnapatnam and Gangavaram and attracting industries, the APSEZ wants to reduce the logistics cost drastically, thus making these industries far more competitive globally, he stated.

In the economic domain, he said Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s vision has laid the foundation to turn AP as the most sustainable State in India. On these lines, pursuant to the MoU signed last year with Government of AP, the Adani Group is committed to developing 15,000 MW of renewable power projects over the next few years across five districts viz Anantapur, Kadapa, Kurnool, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram.

“Our other investments in the State include cement manufacturing units and Data Centres. Presently we do not have any cement manufacturing capacity in AP. Hence, as part of our expansion plans, we will be setting up cement plants in Kadapa and Nadikudi with a total capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum.

Adani Junior said “we are also working on developing a 400 MW Data Centre in Visakhapatnam. These projects will bring further employment opportunities.”
