An interview was conducted with OTTplay director Abishan Jeevinth discussed the making of Tourist Family amd its process. He stated, "Even if there are some moments that are tiring that's the reason that I've worked to the max for the longest period of time. I'm treating this as joyous moments."
He further said, "But due to COVID invariably, a lot of problems were encountered, and the project was unable to be fixed. Then, the idea for this project arose. I came up with the idea to create Thenali 2.
In a discussion on the character, he said, "Sasikumar sir's characters are usually tough and courageous on screen However, in this case, the actor is very soft and a little pookie. I found the contrast pleasing. Similar to Simran Mam we were keen to bring her back as in Panchathanthiram because of the laughter, and even emotions. Nobody could pull off Vaaranam Aayiram as well as she did and the pair was being fresh, we decided to go with."
Yogi Babu M. S. Bhaskar, Ramesh Thilak, Bagavathi Perumal, Elango Kumaravel and Sreeja Ravi are all seen as pivotal characters.
