After the monumental hit HanuMan, the Telugu star Teja Sajja comes again with another mountain setting for the giant screen — Mirai. Directed by Karthik Ghattamaneni, this fantasy action drama blends mythology, high-octane VFX, and superhero elements to realize a grand cinematic experience.
Plot Overview
At the centre of Mirai lies a mystic celestial weapon — a divine staff that may awaken only when the world is in dire need of it. Teja Sajja is a reluctant hero who is asked to wield that power against shadowy forces to save humanity.
The movie features Shriya Saran, Jayaram, and Jagapathi Babu in crucial roles, while Manchu Manoj takes on the most powerful antagonist.
Theatrical release
The initial release date was September 5, but heavy CAS work forced one week's postponement. The film finally came to theatres across eight languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, in 2D and 3D formats.
The estimated grossing of ₹12 crore worldwide was garnered on the first day, and this success was backed by strong word of mouth and audience buzz with a 68.59% overall occupancy in Telugu areas, with night shows peaking at 83.81%.
OTT Release Date And Platform
Mirai streaming digital rights belong to JioHotstar, as per industry sources. An eight-week gap will be maintained post-theatrical screenings before the film gets its OTT debut. This should mean that its OTT debut will be around the beginning of November 2025.
Music and Scale
Music by Gowra Hari, who also did the soundtrack for HanuMan. Mirai with stylized action sequences, grey mythology, and state-of-art VFX is touted as one of the ambitious Telugu films of 2025.
