Idli Kadai OTT Release: When and Where to Watch Dhanush’s Tamil Comedy-Drama After Theatrical Run

Idli Kadai, Dhanush's last and most acerbic directorial move, featuring Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, and other stars, is going to be broadcast by Netflix on October 31, 2025, in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The comedy-drama, which opened in theatres on October 1, had a worldwide gross of about Rs 71 crores and tells the story of a man from a rural area who emigrate to Dubai but come back to satisfy his father's desires.

OTT Release Details

Idli Kadai, after a successful theater run, will be a Netflix streaming option. There were rumors that the streaming company purchased the movie's digital rights, and viewers can see it in three languages—Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi—beginning on October 31, 2025.

The OTT release will take place about four weeks after the movie's theatrical debut, providing people who did not see it in the cinema the opportunity to experience the comedy-drama from the comfort of their own homes.

Box Office Performance

Idli Kadai had a strong start at the Indian box office by earning Rs 11 crore on its first day. The movie earned approximately Rs 50 crore in the domestic market in 18 days. The film globaly had Rs 71.32 crore from which Rs 12.5 crore was the overseas collection.

Although critics gave mixed reviews to the movie, its unusual plot and the Dhanush–Nithya Menen pair were the major factors for its commercial success.

Plot and Cast

The rural man's story is depicted in the movie who shifts to Dubai to make his dreams come true but is faced by unforeseen problems. He then comes to realize the worth of his roots and therefore returns to his village to grant his father's wishes.

Dhanush plays the lead character who is the titular character.

Nithya Menen is cast as the female protagonist.

Arun Vijay, Shalini Pandey, Sathyaraj, and Rajkiran, who are involved in both the comic and emotional aspects of the story, form the group of characters presented with their varying degrees of involvement.
