Vijayawada In line with his commitment towards farmers, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday released financial assistance worth Rs 109 crore under YSR Rythu Bharosa scheme to 1,46,324 tenant farmers.

He also credited Rs 11 crore to 11,373 farmers as input subsidy for crop losses totalling financial assistance of Rs 120.75 crore for landless farmers from SC, ST and minority communities and also for those farmers cultivating temple lands. It is significant to note that the Andhra Pradesh Government is the first government in the country to release such an assistance.

In this year alone, the State Government has provided assistance worth Rs 3,943 crore, benefiting 52,57,263 farmers. And in the last five years, the YSRCP Government has spent more than Rs 31,000 crore for farmers’ welfare.

Elaborating on the scheme, he said, ‘after assuming power, our government has given financial assistance of Rs 13,500 annually to farmers under the YSR Rythu Bharosa Scheme. The amount for the same is disbursed in three instalments. While the first instalment of Rs 7,500 is released every May, the second instalment of Rs 4,000 is disbursed in October and the final instalment of Rs 2,000 in January. The last tranche of the scheme amounting to Rs 3,823 crore was released in June. While addressing the beneficiaries through a virtual meeting at his camp office at Tadepalle near here, the Chief Minister informed that “So far, 5,38,227 tenant farmers belonging to SC, ST, BC and minority communities and 3,99,321 forest land cultivators have been given investment assistance of Rs 1,122.85 crore as of today.” The State Government was also quick to offer Rs 38 crore assistance to the farmers who were affected by the Godavari floods.
