A commemorative Rs 100 silver coin featuring the image of the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and founder of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), was introduced by the Government of India on August 28. The unveiling ceremony was presided over by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, and attended by a limited gathering of around 100 guests, including NTR's family members.

This special coin can be purchased for Rs 4,160 and is available at various banks and Reserve Bank counters across India. Additionally, it can be obtained through the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL) website, spmcil.com The coin has a diameter of 44mm and features an imprint of NTR's image, along with a commemorative timestamp of 1923-2023, marking the centennial celebration of NTR's life.

Late Shri NT Rama Rao, often referred to as NTR, was a legendary figure in Indian cinema. He had a prolific career spanning over three decades and acted in more than 300 films. His influence on the Telugu film industry was profound, and he played a pivotal role in the Telugu Cultural Renaissance and the Telugu language movement. In addition to his film career, he served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for three terms and was affectionately known as "Anna Garu" (Elder Brother) by his admirers.

NTR received numerous accolades during his lifetime, including two National Film Awards, one Nandi Award, and one Filmfare Award.
