IMD issues yellow alert for Hyderabad as light rain and thunderstorms expected in the next few hours.

In Hyderabad, light showers with some rumblings of thunder are expected. This yellow alert was issued by the IMD on Monday. The recent IMD nowcast suggests less than 40 kmph surface winds and indicates rainfall in the next 2-3 hours.
Rain and Thunderstorms Expectable in Telangana
Rainfall is anticipated over the districts of Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Nalgonda, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Suryapet, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Jangaon, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Malkajgiri, and Jagtial.
Earlier this Monday morning, heavy rainfall alerts in the orange category were raised for Hyderabad; now it has been downgraded to the yellow category. The IMD warned the public of possible waterlogging in low-lying areas that might cause congestion during morning hours.
Rainfall Forecast Across South India
According to the Meteorology Department, a more or less gloomy outlook for the days to come is forecasted in the southern, eastern, and northeastern parts of India with widespread rains and thunders.
- Tamil Nadu and Kerala: Heavy showers at isolated places from October 12 to 18.
- South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam: Heavy rains on October 13 and 14.
- Telangana: Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 km/hr) from October 12 to 16.
- Lakshadweep: Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds on October 12 and 13.
Weather Alerts for East and Central India
Odisha: Heavy rain at isolated places on October 12, with thunderstorm and lightning continuing till October 14. Thunderstorm, lightning, and rain are also likely in Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh from October 14 to 16.
Thunderstorms for Northeast India
According to the regional forecast of IMD, there are chances of thunderstorm coupled with lightning over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on October 12.
The common public of the above-mentioned areas is advised to stay alert, keep away from waterlogged routes, and keep abreast of weather advisories from the official IMD on a real-time basis.
