After weeks of uncertainty and legal hurdles, the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) is finally set to declare the WBJEE 2025 results tomorrow, August 7. The announcement comes after the Calcutta High Court lifted its interim stay, which had put the result declaration on hold due to the state government's revised OBC reservation list.

The Calcutta HC stay order stemmed from a legal dispute over the inclusion of 77 communities in the revised OBC list. In May 2024, the court found their inclusion invalid and directed the government to create a fresh list, which delayed the result for more than two months, impacting over 1 lakh students who appeared for the exam on April 27, 2025.

WBJEEB Chairperson Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee clarified that the board had completed the result process by June 5, but the HC directive forced them to withhold the results until further notice. With the stay now lifted, the board is ready to release the results on its official website: wbjeeb.nic.in.
🎓 Jadavpur University & Student Concerns
The prolonged delay sparked concern among students and faculty at Jadavpur University (JU). While students struggled with conflicting admission deadlines at IITs and private universities, JU faculty warned that this delay could cause a loss of top talent. A proposal from JU to conduct separate counselling was rejected by the state government, forcing the institution to participate in the centralised WBJEE counselling process.

Ahead of the result declaration, WBJEEB had asked candidates to update their social category details by August 2, clarifying that final verification will take place during admission at the allotted institutes. The board also noted that further legal proceedings could still affect admission decisions.
