Visakhapatnam: Eighty international tourists, who arrived on a super-luxury cruise liner ‘The World’ were thrilled to enjoy the grandeur and panoramic view of the City of Destiny and the hospitality of the people of Visakhapatnam during their maiden voyage to the city on Sunday.

This was the first luxury cruise ship to dock at the newly launched Vizag International Cruise Terminal (VICT) owned by Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA). The passengers who came in the ship along with a 281-member strong crew had a memorable experience when they were given immigration clearance in just 45 minutes following instructions for their hassle-free clearance by Commissioner of Police Ravi Shankar. "We had loads of fun during our visit to the city and also could secure clearances on a fast-track mode," Sophia, First Officer of The World, said.

"The tourists as well as the crew had a memorable experience in Visakhapatnam after seeing its picturesque locations, mainly its green-capped hillocks and the virgin beaches," ship's Captain Dag H Saevik said

The ship built in 2002, often described as a floating township, arrived here from Chennai. It will head to Andamans and from there to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) Secretary T Venu Gopal told Bizz Buzz. The ship is a private residential cruise operated like a condominium complex with a provision to live on-board by super rich people. VPA sources said the ship management included Visakhapatnam on an experimental basis and they in future consider introducing a regular service.

VPA said they were extremely happy to announce the maiden arrival of the luxury cruise ship The World to its docks. "This momentous event marks a significant milestone in our commitment to becoming a premier destination for international cruise liners in the region," VPA Chairman M Angamuthu said.

The World, renowned for its unparalleled luxury and exquisite service docked in the city, brought with it an exciting influx of global tourists, eager to explore the rich cultural heritage and breathtaking natural beauty of Visakhapatnam and its surrounding areas.

"We are delighted to welcome the cruise liner, its crew and tourists," said Angamuthu. VPA owns and operates Vizag International Cruise Terminal.
