Uddhav Thackeray meets CM Devendra Fadnavis: A new twist in Maharashtra politics
Maharashtra politics has once again stirred up with a sensational development. Senior BJP leader and current Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, recently met Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray. The unexpected meeting between Fadnavis and Thackeray, along with Thackeray’s son Aaditya and several MLAs, has become a major topic of discussion in the state’s political circles.
Known for its unpredictability, Maharashtra’s political landscape has seen numerous twists and turns over the past few years, making it one of the most dynamic states in the country. The state has witnessed several unexpected alliances, splits, and reunions, which have often left political analysts guessing. The latest sensation stems from this high-profile meeting that took place at the Vidhan Bhavan in Nagpur, coinciding with the ongoing Maharashtra Assembly session.
The meeting has taken on extra significance given the backdrop of growing tensions within the state’s politics. Allegations have surfaced that Maharashtra’s Deputy CM, Eknath Shinde, and his faction of Shiv Sena, led by Shinde, are unhappy with the current developments. The timing of Uddhav Thackeray's visit to Fadnavis adds another layer of intrigue.
Thackeray, along with Aaditya, Anil Parab, Varun Desai, and other MLAs from his faction, congratulated Fadnavis on his reappointment as CM. After the meeting, Aaditya Thackeray addressed the media, expressing his intent to work with the government to meet the aspirations of Maharashtra’s people. Uddhav Thackeray, for his part, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the ruling and opposition parties, stressing the need for political maturity to serve the interests of both the state and the nation.
This meeting has caught the attention of political observers, especially in light of the recent developments in Maharashtra's governance. In 2019, after the BJP and Shiv Sena parted ways, Uddhav Thackeray became CM with the support of Congress and NCP. However, in 2022, Eknath Shinde’s rebellion, along with the support of his faction and the BJP, led to the fall of the Congress-Shiv Sena-NCP alliance. The new BJP-Shinde Shiv Sena coalition, bolstered by Ajit Pawar’s faction from NCP, formed the Mahayuti alliance, which triumphed in the recent elections and took back control of the state.
