The future growth of the IT sector is not only driven by outsourcing but the GCCs. A national level consortium should be created for the GCCs in Hyderabad. Several GCCs are here and they have their own set of challenges. There must be a networking platform for them to work together - Bharani Kumar Aroll, former President, Hysea

Hyderabad: Telangana government should come up with sectoral policies and centres of excellence (CoEs) for AI (artificial intelligence) and cloud computing, Bharani Kumar Aroll, Former President of the Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association (HYSEA), told Bizz Buzz, while sharing the suggestions on the ways to fuel the growth of the IT & ITeS industry in the State.

He said, “The CoEs should be able to cater to academia and industry to upgrade in all aspects, leverage technologies and learn the best practices. There are many AI & cloud solution providers in Hyderabad. All stakeholders must be brought together to create new products. A lot of things can be done by embracing the emerging technologies.”

Speaking about how the government shall support the overall AI ecosystem, he said: “Generative AI is an enabler and strategic disrupter. Students and startups must be encouraged to implement the AI pilot projects in the government departments. Not every time the private organisations should be supporting them. Mentorships and internships can be provided by the government agencies also.”

The government should create a conducive environment for the stakeholders to reach a win-win situation. Skilling, reskilling and job creation must be its main focus areas. Engineering students should be given internships during their third or fourth years. A policy must be created for incentivising the industry and educational institutions that make the students job-ready.

Bharani further said, “The overall development of IT and ITeS industry is not the responsibility of the government alone but the entire ecosystem comprising IT industry bodies, companies and their teams. The government should set up a ‘Thought-leadership chapter’ with a group of CEOs who can deliberate about what should be the next opportunity to tap on.”

“Thought leadership team will take part in road shows abroad, particularly in the US, UK and Japan. They know the stand of any country or city, and how to attract the investors. They can be the spokesperson, evangelist or brand ambassador for communicating how the IT ecosystem in Telangana is much better than any other State,” he suggested.
