Telangana Tourism Unveils Plan to Promote 100 Weekend Getaways Near Hyderabad
Telangana Tourism plans to promote 100 scenic weekend destinations within 2–3 hours of Hyderabad to boost local travel and hyper-local tourism.
Scenic hills, heritage sites and nature spots near Hyderabad to be developed as Telangana’s top weekend getaway destinations.

The Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has introduced a new project that will encourage short and stress-free weekend traveling through the driving of 100 scenic spots close to Hyderabad in the range of two to three hours. The initiative is set to attract the citizens of the state to the less crowded tourist destinations of the state rather than going to neighboring areas.
According to the tourism officials, even if Telangana has rich hills, great forests, quiet waterbodies, ancient monuments, and religious places close to Hyderabad within 50–200 km, many of the travelers miss these options because of limited awareness and lack of consolidated information. To fill this gap, the department is adopting “hyper-local tourism” approach as a part of its new strategy.
It is estimated that Hyderabad itself has about 10 lakh people who are interested in taking trips over the weekend, mainly IT professionals, students, and workers in the industry who are looking for short breaks with their families and friends. keeping this trend in mind, the selected places are those ones that can be easily visited during weekends or short vacations.
Tourism information will be collected from the public and put on a single online platform as part of the project. it will include details of road connectivity, accommodation nearby, adventure and water sports activities and local food specialties, hence making trip planning easier and accessible for travelers.
The list of '100 Weekend Destinations' has already featured numerous famous places, and among them are the Ananthagiri Hills, Ranganayakasagar, Amrabad Tiger Reserve, Ramappa Temple, Kuntala and Pochera Waterfalls, Chowmahalla Palace, Golconda Fort, Charminar, Yadagirigutta, Nagarjunasagar, Basara Temple, Warangal Fort, Buddhavanam, Somasila, Jogulamba Shakti Peetham, and the Sri Ranganayakaswamy Temple in Wanaparthy.
Valluri Kranthi, Tourism Corporation's MD, stated that the objective of the campaign is to develop our local tourism, provide the locals with new economic opportunities, and inspire the people to explore the natural and cultural treasures of Telangana again through the selection of beautiful places close by with short driving times and heavy promotion as the method of attracting tourists to all the regions.
