Hyderabad: Confederation of Indian Industry is hosting the fourth edition of AgriTech South 2024 and Agri Vision 2024, an exhibition and conference on agri-technology and innovation at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University from February 16 to 18, 2024.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and State minister for Agriculture Thummala Nageswara Rao have been invited as the chief guest. The Government of Telangana is the event’s Host Partner.

Speaking on the importance of implementing technology innovation in agriculture and allied sectors, K Ashok Reddy, Director, Telangana Horticulture department said that the latest agri technology should reach the farmers otherwise farming will end up being non-viable, which figures as one of the reasons for migration of unemployed youth from villages to cities in search of employment.

“Many software engineers exposed to advanced technology abroad are taking up farming after returning back to India. They are putting to use the best practices of farming by implementing new technology. This is giving out a positive message to the educated unemployed rural youth. If these youth are able to take this cue and implement it then agritech will turn farming into a viable business and hence, boost the rural economy,” he added. 16 sessions and panel discussions will be held by 65 experts from India, the US, Australia and other countries. The sectors that will be covered in the exhibition and conference include agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, poultry, aquaculture, agribusiness management and agritech startups. More than 30 agritech startups will be showcasing their solutions.

Dr V Praveen Rao, Chairman, Steering Committee-CII AgriTech South 2024, said: “CII has taken up promoting agritech in a big way. 10 agritech startups will be launching their product ideas and solutions in front of the farmers. Robotics, IoT, Artificial Intelligence, drones, and precision irrigation among others called as fourth industrial technologies will be covered by these startups. CII has given startups, workings on these lines, a platform to present their product. Apart from these 10 startups, 25 that have validated use cases with ready solutions to be implemented in the field will showcase their products at the Agritech exhibition.”

CII Telangana Chairman C Shekar Reddy, and CII members Anil Kumar Vepur and Shaik Samiuddin were also present.
