Viral image shows TCS employee camping outside Pune office over alleged salary delay; company confirms providing accommodation.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has broken its silence after a viral image showed an employee, Sourabh More, sleeping outside the company’s Pune office, alleging non-payment of salary. The IT giant confirmed it is in contact with the employee and has since provided him temporary accommodation.
The images, which sparked widespread attention on social media, showed More camping on the pavement outside TCS’s Sahyadri Park office. A handwritten note placed next to him read:
“I have informed HR I don’t have money and will be forced to sleep and live outside TCS on footpath.”
Employee Alleges Salary Withheld
More claimed he resumed work on July 29, 2025, but found his employee ID inactive in the TCS systems, preventing him from accessing workplace resources. He alleged that despite assurances from the HR department, his salary had not been released, pushing him to take this drastic step.
TCS Clarifies Payroll Suspension
Responding to the allegations, TCS issued a statement to HT.com, explaining that More's payroll had been suspended due to an extended period of unauthorized absence.
"This is a case of unauthorized absence where the employee has been away from work without proper approvals. As per company policy, payroll was suspended during this time. The employee has now reported back and requested reinstatement. We are supporting him with temporary accommodation and working towards a fair resolution," a TCS spokesperson stated.
The company confirmed that the employee is no longer sleeping outside the office premises.
Viral Reaction on Social Media
The incident triggered strong reactions online, with many users expressing concern over employee welfare at large IT firms. The original post was shared by the Instagram page Being Punekar, quickly gaining traction and prompting a response from TCS.
While the situation appears to be stabilizing, it has reignited discussions around corporate accountability, HR protocols, and how large firms handle payroll issues during internal disputes.
