The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains at some places of Tamil Nadu and Chennai city. The low pressure area that has formed in the Bay of Bengal will bring rain to Chengalpattu, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Ariyalur and Mayiladuthurai districts while there may be showers at Nagapattinam, Thanjavur,Tiruvarur, Pudukkottai and Ramanathapuram. Warnings have also been issued to the union territory of Puducherry, and Karaikal region. Tiruvallur, Kallakurichi and Perambalur districts will witness light to moderate rain throughout the spell.

The state government has already alerted the district administrations and told them to take necessary measures. Fishermen have been asked not to venture into Gulf of Mannar and also near Kanniyakumari as strong winds will blow at a speed of 35-45 kmph and gusting up to 55 kmph.

Rainfall will also cause flooding in Kerala State of India and Union Territory Mahe and adjoining areas during the period 16th to 20th November, along Coastal Andhra Pradesh on the 17th-18th November and over Andaman & Nicobar Islands from 18-21st.
