The IPL 2026 season is set to witness huge changes for the Seth Rainas, with a truly disappointing showing by the Lucknow Super Giants in 2025. They finished a seventh on the points table, grabbing only six wins out of 14 matches. In a world of his own, Mitchell Marsh had brief moments of brilliance, with others under equally heavy shadows-Like Nicholas Pooran and young spinner Digvesh Rathi-instead of the team struggling to find consistency, especially in the pace department hit severely with injuries.

The retention and release deadline for IPL 2026 is November 15, followed by a mini-auction in mid-December (Dec 13–15 window). With the goal of rebuilding and returning stronger next season, LSG are expected to make some tough decisions.

Here’s a look at the predicted list of players Lucknow Super Giants might release before IPL 2026:

1. Mayank Yadav

The young speedster’s injury troubles continued in IPL 2025, once again cutting short his season. After missing the first half, Mayank returned briefly against Mumbai Indians but broke down after just two games. Despite his immense talent, LSG’s decision to retain him in 2025 backfired as his fitness issues persisted. The franchise may now look for more reliable bowling options ahead of IPL 2026.

2. David Miller

The experienced South African batter failed to make an impact after joining LSG. Scoring just 153 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 127.49, Miller couldn’t provide the finishing punch he’s known for. His inconsistency put additional pressure on the middle order, and LSG might opt to release him to free up funds for a more dependable finisher.

3. Arshin Kulkarni

Despite his all-round potential, the 20-year-old barely got any opportunities, spending the entire 2025 season on the bench. Kulkarni featured in only two games in 2024, and with LSG showing little intent to use him, the franchise might release him to let him find a new team where he can develop further.

4. Shamar Joseph

The Caribbean pacer was part of LSG’s squad but didn’t get a single game in IPL 2025—even when the team was facing a bowling crisis. With William O’Rourke brought in as an injury replacement instead, Joseph’s exclusion raised eyebrows. Releasing him could be mutually beneficial, allowing both player and franchise to move in different directions.

With Rishabh Pant leading the charge and Nicholas Pooran showing strong form, LSG’s focus for IPL 2026 will likely shift toward strengthening their pace attack and middle order. The team’s management is expected to be active at the upcoming mini-auction as they aim to bounce back stronger.
