Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have decided to reset their roster in the wake of the worst finish in IPL 2025, having won just four games. To somehow reshuffle their squad this time, the franchise traded Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to Rajasthan Royals for Sanju Samson and announced the release of 11 other players, including Rachin Ravindra and Matheesha Patirana, to bring bodies in for these big gaps.

CSK will enter the Abu Dhabi auction on December 16 with ₹43.4 crore in their kitty and 9 slots open. They are still desperately in need of overhauling their all-rounder group to accommodate both spinning and pace-bowling all-round abilities.

Here are four all-rounders CSK could try to steal at the auction of IPL 2026:

1. Cameron Green

Why CSK May Target Him:

Australian star Cameron Green is expected to be one of the biggest names at this year’s auction. His explosive batting, fast-medium bowling and top-tier fielding make him an ideal fit for CSK’s revamped strategy. Green brings rare balance to both departments and could slot into crucial middle-order and bowling roles.

IPL Record:

Matches: 29

Runs: 707

Average: 41.58

Strike Rate: 153.69

Wickets: 16

2. Glenn Maxwell

Released by Punjab Kings, Glenn Maxwell is back in the auction pool and instantly becomes a high-value option for teams needing a finisher who can also bowl off-spin. With CSK owning one of the biggest purses, they have the financial flexibility to push hard for Maxwell, who perfectly fits the No. 6 power-hitter role the franchise struggled with last season.

IPL Record:

Matches: 141

Runs: 2,819

Strike Rate: 155.14

Wickets: 41

3. Andre Russell

The release of Andre Russell by Kolkata Knight Riders shocked many, but it also presents a huge opportunity for CSK. A proven match-winner with unmatched hitting power and wicket-taking ability, Russell addresses CSK’s need for a late-order big-hitter and pace-bowling all-rounder. With a massive purse available, CSK are well-positioned to compete for him.

IPL Record:

Matches: 140

Runs: 2,651

Strike Rate: 174.17

Wickets: 123

Best Bowling: 5/15

4. Liam Livingstone

Released by RCB, England’s Liam Livingstone is a sought-after name thanks to his explosive finishing and dual-spin ability (leg-spin and off-spin). His style directly addresses CSK’s 2025 finishing woes. With ₹43.4 crore in hand, the franchise can easily enter — and win — a bidding war for him.

IPL Record:

Matches: Multiple franchises

Runs: 1,051

Strike Rate: 158.76

Wickets: 13
