What is Shillong Teer?
Shillong Teer is an unusual lottery game that is based on archery and is conducted under the Meghalaya Amusement and Betting Tax Act, thus making it completely legal. Instead of other lotteries in India, the winner will be the one whose prediction coincides with the actual number of arrows shot by professional archers at the Polo Ground, Shillong.
The Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association, which consists of 12 archery clubs, oversees the game and it operates Monday to Saturday, with Sundays being reserved for church activities.
How the Shillong Teer Lottery Works
Tickets are sold every day from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Players have the option to buy tickets worth ₹1 to ₹100.
Roughly, around 50 archers take part and each one shoots 30 arrows in the first round and 20 arrows in the second round within two minutes.
Winning players will have made a correct guess on the last two digits of the total number of arrows that have hit the target.
In addition, there are over 5,000 betting counters in the 11 districts of Meghalaya where the participants can try their luck.
