Schools across Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar announce festive season holidays for Diwali, Chhath Puja, and administrative work.
The festive season opens in various parts of Bharat and schools from different states in India observe a holiday break either to celebrate Diwali or for administrative reasons, such as the caste survey — all meant to give students time to take pleasure in the festival, go through their lessons, or prepare for the coming examinations.
🏫 Karnataka: School Holidays for Caste Survey Work
Schools will remain closed in Karnataka from October 8 to 18, 2025, for organization of the state-wide social and educational (caste) survey.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah permitted the closure so that teachers can perform survey-related work. While this exercise was to conclude on October 7, some districts could not adhere to the date.
Survey progress:
Koppal – 97% completed
Udupi – 63% completed
Dakshina Kannada – 60% completed
Teachers engaged in conducting mid-term examinations will be exempted from survey duties.
🎆 Rajasthan: 12-Day Diwali Holiday Begins
Students and teachers in Rajasthan are accorded a long 12-day festival holiday from October 13 till October 24, as announced by the state Department of Education.
Hence, with today being the first day of the Diwali break of 12 days, families can go out for some fun, celebrations, and also preparation for the coming festival period.
✨ Uttar Pradesh: Short Diwali Break
In Uttar Pradesh, the Diwali holidays start a little later, i.e., from the 20th of October to the 23rd of October 2025. Putting together the weekend of 18-19 of October, the kids of UP will enjoy a five-day festive break with their families to celebrate the Festival of Lights.
🌅 Bihar: Diwali and Chhath Puja Holidays
With respect to Diwali and Chhath Puja celebrations, schools in Bihar will be closed from October 20 onwards.
The long holidays will allow students and the teachers to enjoy some family time during rituals, celebrations, and cultural arrangements on account of these major festivals.
