India has officially ushered in the festive season, while school students are looking forward to the Diwali holidays that will be their dying wish. The vacation plans for schools are already confirmed in some states, while others are expected to do the same by the end of the week. Below is the awesome list of states that have so far declared school holidays for Diwali 2025.
🪔 Rajasthan Diwali Holidays
The Rajasthan Education Department has announced that schools in the state will be on a holiday from October 13 to October 24, 2025, for the festival of lights. The days off have been moved forward from the previous schedule of 16–27.
🪔 Uttar Pradesh (UP) Diwali Break
The students of Uttar Pradesh state will enjoy a little bit of time off from school due to the Diwali celebrations, while the holiday extends from October 20 to October 23. The state government has also identified October 20, 22, and 23 as public holidays.
🪔 Bihar Diwali & Chhath Puja Holidays
In Bihar, students will have a long break from October 20 to October 29, 2025, which will cover both festivals, i.e. Diwali and Chhath Puja.
🪔 Tamil Nadu Diwali Holidays
The schools of Tamil Nadu are likely to be closed from October 18 to 21, thus providing students with a beautiful long weekend to celebrate Diwali along with their relatives and friends.
🪔 Karnataka Holiday Update
There is some conflicting news on the actual Diwali 2025 date as the Amavasya Tithi — which signifies the main Diwali date — overlaps October 20 and 21. Nevertheless, numerous publications contend that October 20 will be the day for Lakshmi Puja activities and celebrations.
As per the official calendar issued by the government of Karnataka, Deepawali and Balipadyami will be on October 22, though there is a possibility of changes in the date.
🪔 Andhra Pradesh & Telangana
Schools and higher education institutions in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will most probably receive three successive holidays for the Diwali weekend, yet the announcement of a formal document is still pending.
