SBI General Insurance, one of India's leading General
Insurance companies, has launched its ‘Crop Insurance
Week’ awareness campaign in the implementing states
for Kharif 2025 season. This week-long initiative aims
to educate farmers about the benefits of Crop insurance
and promote enrollment under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal
Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
Recognising the importance of crop insurance in
protecting farmers from weather-induced risks, SBI
General Insurance has rolled out an extensive series of
Information, Education, and Communication (IEC)
activities during the week of July 1 st to 7 th July 2025.
These efforts will cover both urban and rural pockets
across six key states, including, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya
Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Andhra
Pradesh, combining traditional and modern
communication strategies to maximize reach and
impact.
As part of the campaign, there will be a series of on-
ground engagements such as Fasal Bima Pathshalas,
large-scale farmer workshops and various activities all
designed to foster awareness and interaction. Moreover,
special outreach sessions will be organised for women
farmers, while youth-focused workshops will take place
in schools and colleges to build awareness among the
next generation of agri-leaders.
Speaking about the initiative, Naveen Chandra Jha, MD
& CEO, SBI General Insurance, said,
"PMFBY continues to play a pivotal role in shielding
farmers from the increasing uncertainty posed by
climate change. At SBI General, our goal is not just to
offer protection but also to empower farmers with
information and confidence. Through this dedicated
awareness campaign, we aim to bridge knowledge gaps
and drive more enrolments under the scheme. A well-
informed farmer is a protected farmer.”
The campaign aims not only to raise awareness about
the PMFBY Scheme but also to implement engaging
grassroots activities, including street plays, bike rallies,
and cultural performances, to convey messages in a
community-friendly manner. Furthermore, institutional
collaboration is a key component, with scheduled
meetings involving State and District-level officials,
Bankers, Common Service Centres (CSCs), and Agri-
Stakeholders to ensure strong grassroots-level
implementation. To maximize its impact, the campaign
will utilize regional content across various digital
platforms, incorporating a series of informative posts,
video snippets from officials and influencers, along
with compelling farmer testimonials and captivating
visual narratives.
Through its sustained efforts over the years, SBI
General has consistently reaffirmed its commitment to
protecting rural livelihoods and contributing to the
growth of India’s agricultural ecosystem.
