Sadhguru Undergoes Surgery for Chronic Brain Bleed at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi

In response to a potentially fatal brain haemorrhage, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev had surgery at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in Delhi, according to a statement released by his Isha Foundation. The report went on to say that he is doing "exceptionally well" in his recovery.

"The Apollo hospital neurosurgeons cut through my skull and tried to find something. But they found nothing... totally empty," quipped Sadhguru in a video posted on Instagram from his hospital bed after the surgery. "... they gave up and patched it up. Here I am in a Delhi hospital, with a patched-up skull but no damage," he joked.

According to the Isha Foundation’s statement, Sadhguru has been in the throes of a terrible headache for the past four weeks.

"Despite the severity of the pain, he continued with his schedule and activities, and even conducted the nightlong MahaShivRatri celebrations on 8th March 2024," the statement read.

The headaches worsened by the time he reached Delhi on March 14, according to the Foundation. They added, "On the advice of Dr Vinit Suri of the Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Sadhguru underwent an urgent MRI, which revealed a massive bleed in the brain." According to the report, there was chronic bleeding as well as new bleeding in the hours preceding the examination.

The news release added that he declined hospitalisation until he had completed all of his pending work obligations. On March 17, Sadhguru's condition deteriorated further as he expressed increasing weakness in his left leg, a worsening headache, and persistent vomiting.

Within a few hours of his admission, a team of doctors, including Vinit Suri, Pranav Kumar, Sudheer Tyagi, and S. Chatterjee, performed an emergency brain surgery to stop the bleeding in his skull.

"He was finally admitted. A CT scan revealed a marked increase in brain swelling and a life-threatening shift of the brain to one side... he underwent an emergency brain surgery within hours of admission to relieve the bleeding in his skull. Sadhguru was weaned off the ventilator post-surgery," the release declared.

A message of good health was conveyed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the religious leader during their conversation. "Heard from Sadhguru Ji and sent best wishes for his health and a quick recovery," Prime Minister Modi wrote on X.
