A divine spectacle unfolded at the Maha Kumbh Mela as rose petals showered down on devotees during the sacred 'Amrit Snan' on Makar Sankranti. The floral rain added a festive vibrancy to the ghats and akharas at the Sangam banks, amplifying the spiritual fervor of the event.
Devotees responded with heartfelt chants of "Jai Shri Ram" and "Har Har Mahadev," creating an atmosphere of devotion and unity.
In a statement, the Uttar Pradesh government highlighted the meticulous planning behind this celestial-like event. Under the direction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Horticulture Department procured and stored an impressive quantity of rose petals to ensure a seamless floral shower for each major bathing ritual at the Maha Kumbh.
"Special arrangements were made for all 'snan parv' (bathing festivals), with approximately 20 quintals of rose petals allocated for each occasion," the statement noted.
The flower showers began on Monday during the 'Paush Purnima Snan,' the first major bathing festival, with over 40 quintals of rose petals used in the first two days alone.
The Maha Kumbh, held every 12 years, commenced on January 13 at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj and will continue until February 26. The event has already seen an overwhelming turnout, with official estimates reporting 1.75 crore devotees taking a holy dip on Monday and another 1.38 crore by Tuesday afternoon.
The Maha Kumbh is not just a religious event but a testament to India’s cultural and spiritual heritage, drawing millions from across the world to experience its grandeur.
