In order to meet US’ demand, Apple is set to increase the production of iPhone 17 series in India. As per a Moneycontrol report, the US buys more Pro models than the base models. Additionally, India is also emerging among the potential markets for Pro Models.
Though Apple is heavily investing in India to bolster the production of iPhones, US President Donald Trump seems to be unhappy with the move.
During Trump’s recent visit to Doha he had a brief conversation with Apple CEO Tim Cook. The US President said during a press briefing, “We are not interested in you building in India. India can take care of themselves.” Despite the discontent, Apple will be moving forward to manufacture iPhone 17 Pro models in India. Reportedly, Foxconn has already begun the trial phase for the iPhone 17 series in India with Tata Electronics.
Apple is expected to increase the production of a significant portion of US-bound iPhones in India by 2026. Moreover, the company is planning to increase local manufacturing due to rising U.S. tariffs.
