The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert 🚨 for extremely heavy rainfall in Coastal Karnataka and Telangana, warning that showers are likely to persist until September 2.
In a post on X, the IMD said, “On August 27, extremely heavy rainfall 🌧 is likely over Coastal Karnataka and Telangana, with intense showers expected to disrupt daily life and travel.”
State-wise forecast 📊
♦ Telangana: Heavy to very heavy rainfall expected from August 27–29.
♦ Coastal Karnataka: Widespread heavy rain from August 27–September 2, with extremely heavy showers predicted on August 27.
Warnings issued on August 27 highlight:
♦ Wednesday (Aug 27): Extremely heavy rain ⛈ and strong surface winds 🌬.
♦ Thursday (Aug 28): Very heavy rain and gusty winds.
♦ Aug 29 – Sept 2: Persistent heavy rainfall continuing across the region.

Very heavy rain is expected in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, and Kerala on August 27.
Interior Karnataka may also receive heavy showers on August 27 and 28.
