Bengaluru, Aug 3, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate the much-anticipated Namma Metro Yellow Line on August 10, a major step toward solving Bengaluru’s long-standing traffic woes, especially in its bustling IT and industrial zones.

The 19.15-kilometre metro corridor stretches from RV Road in South Bengaluru to Bommasandra, connecting key areas like Electronic City, HSR Layout, and Bommasandra Industrial Hub. The line features 16 stations and is expected to benefit over 8 lakh daily commuters.

🔔 A Major Milestone for Bengaluru’s Public Transit

Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya confirmed the launch via a post on X (formerly Twitter), thanking PM Modi for prioritizing Bengaluru’s infrastructure needs.

“PM Sri @narendramodi Ji will inaugurate the important Yellow Line metro on August 10. On behalf of all Bengalureans, I thank the PM for always prioritizing our city’s growth,” Surya wrote.

He emphasized that enhanced public transportation is the only sustainable solution to Bengaluru's traffic congestion and praised the Yellow Line's role in easing pressure on major junctions like Silk Board.

💰 Massive Investment, Bigger Impact

The Yellow Line project cost ₹5,056.99 crore, and during the same event, PM Modi is also expected to lay the foundation for Phase-3 of Namma Metro, a 44.65-km extension with an investment of ₹15,611 crore.

Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar shared his excitement over the upcoming launch and foundation laying ceremony, highlighting the government’s focus on urban development.
