During his visit to Maharashtra that lasted two days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on a grand note, inaugurated Phase 2B of Mumbai Metro Line-3, which is also known as the Aqua Line. The new stretch, which is from Acharya Atre Chowk to Cuffe Parade, is the last link to finish the fully underground 10.99 km corridor.
The final phase of ₹12,200 crore total expenditure, this project will contribute towards the total sum of ₹37,270 crore for the Aqua Line project which is a part of the Mumbai Metro and which will become the city's foremost fully underground metro system thereby altering the face of mass rapid transport and travel across the city mainly.

Key Highlights of the Aqua Line
Fully Underground: Mumbai Metro Line-3 marks the city’s first fully underground tunnel.
Project Timeline: The project commenced in 2017 with MMRCL being the nodal agency that had hired more than 15,000 laborers at the peak to execute the job.
Engineering Feat: A record number of 17 Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) was utilized at the same time setting an India's-first record.
Rail Integration: There will be a seamless connection with Central Railway at CSMT, Western Railway at Churchgate, and Mumbai Central.
Airport Connectivity: Direct metro link to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport for making air passenger travel easier.
Key Hubs: It increases accessibility to Nariman Point, Fort, Kalbadevi, RBI, BSE, and Mantralaya.
Commuter Capacity: The line is projected to accommodate 13,00,000 people a day while the travel time from Cuffe Parade to Aarey JVLR will be cut down to just 1 hour.

Mumbai One: Integrated Mobility App
On the occasion of the metro inauguration, PM Modi launched "Mumbai One" which is a shared mobility app that has 11 different transport modes operators on board including the 1, 2A, 3 (Aqua Line), 7 metro lines, Monorail, Navi Mumbai Metro, BEST, and in-class trains.

This will greatly reduce the queues, simplify the commutes and make traveling across Mumbai much easier.
