PM Modi releases ₹20,500 crore to over 9.7 crore farmers under the 20th instalment of PM Kisan Yojana in Varanasi.

The time for the 21st installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is fast approaching, with several disbursements already having been made to the states. The farmers eligible under the scheme must complete the e-KYC and bank verification so that the smooth credit of funds is ensured under the DBT system of the government.
PM Kisan Yojana – Background and Benefits
The PM-KISAN scheme, launched in the year 2019, aims to provide an annual sum of 6,000 rupees to small and marginal farmers paid in three instalments of 2,000 rupees each. Thus, the objective of the scheme is to alleviate the plight of farmers by transferring cash directly into their bank accounts.
The 20th instalment was released on the 2nd of August, 2025, when an amount of ₹20,500 crore had been paid to 9.7 crore farmers by the honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in sight of the common people at Varanasi.
PM Kisan 21st Instalment Date and Disbursement Details
The 21st instalment has yet to be officially named, but it is expected according to past trends to be paid during the first week of November 2025.
Special disbursements have been made in favour of the farmers affected by floods and landslides in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand. Also, on the 7th of October, 2025, the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir received their instalments.
Since PM-KISAN instalments are typically released every 4-6 months, it means that all pending beneficiaries should be paid off by January 2026.
Eligibility and Exclusion Criteria
The Ministry of Agriculture has identified several suspected cases under the exclusion criteria where benefits have been temporarily withheld pending physical verification. Farmers falling under the following categories will not receive payments:
Individuals who acquired agricultural land after February 1, 2019
Families with multiple members enrolled under the same household (e.g., husband, wife, or dependents)
Applicants found ineligible during verification due to incorrect records or duplications
Farmers can check their current status via the ‘Know Your Status (KYS)’ feature on the PM-KISAN website or through the Kisan eMitra chatbot on the mobile app.
