Pahalgam Terror Attack Triggers Boycott Demands on Twitter

Following the Pahalgam terror attack more people have begun demanding a ban on Abir Gulaal where Pakistani actor Fawad Khan works alongside Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor which has resulted in heated online debates.
Aarti S Bagdi directs the romantic comedy which will be released theatrically on May 9. The terror attack which killed 26 people and injured many civilians sparked a call for a film ban from certain movie fans and cinema enthusiasts on social media. A tweet announced that Abir Gulaal will not be shown in Indian theaters.
Another person questioned whether India will continue permitting films such as Abir Gulaal that involve Pakistani actors.
Some people compared the situation to the aftermath of the 2016 Uri attack because Ae Dil Hai Mushkil with Fawad in a leading role premiered in theaters exactly one month following that terror event.
The release of Ae Dil Hai Muskil faced controversy because the Uri attack happened just one week before it was set to premiere. The Pehlam incident took place ten days prior to the launch of Abir Gulaal. Fawad Khan's fate seems to take a strange turn because both incidents seem more than coincidental.
People describe Abir Gulaal as a romantic drama that takes place across national borders. The movie received intense examination mainly because of Fawad's casting decision. At the beginning of this month the MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) announced their opposition to the film's release throughout Maharashtra. The party has maintained its traditional stance against Pakistani artists working in India by pointing to national security risks and potential harm to the Indian film sector. The organization advised distributors and theatre owners not to exhibit the movie.
