Op Sindoor: Indian Embassy warns Chinese newspaper over sharing Pakistan’s false claims

The Indian Embassy in Beijing has warned China’s state-run tabloid, Global Times, to fact-check its information before posting unverified claims on social media regarding India’s recent military action against terror bases in Pakistan.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the embassy wrote:
“(1/n) Dear @globaltimesnews, we recommend verifying facts and cross-checking sources before spreading such disinformation.”
The embassy criticized the Chinese daily for sharing posts linked to Pakistan Air Force claims about India’s military strikes under Operation Sindoor.
“(2/n) Several pro-Pakistan handles are spreading baseless claims about #OperationSindoor to mislead the public. When media outlets share unverified reports, it shows a serious lapse in responsibility and journalistic ethics,” the embassy added.
The Indian Embassy also highlighted a PIB Fact Check post, which warned against fake visuals circulating online. Some pro-Pakistan social media accounts were falsely claiming that Pakistan had recently shot down an Indian Rafale fighter jet near Bahawalpur.
The PIB clarified:
“An old image showing a crashed aircraft is being shared as if it’s from the ongoing #OperationSindoor. This photo is actually from a 2021 incident involving an IAF MiG-21 crash in Moga district, Punjab.”
The embassy urged the media to avoid spreading such misleading content and emphasized the need for responsible reporting.
