No law can legalize actions of Babar, Ghazni: Advocate Ashwini

In a recent statement, Advocate Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay asserted that no law can ever legitimize the actions of historical figures like Babar and Mahmud of Ghazni. Addressing a gathering, Upadhyay emphasized that the deeds of these invaders, known for their violent campaigns and destruction of Indian temples, are beyond the scope of legal justification.
Upadhyay's comments come amid ongoing debates surrounding the historical narratives of these figures and their impact on Indian heritage. He argued that attempts to portray them in a favorable light or to provide legal backing to their actions are fundamentally flawed.
"History cannot be rewritten to suit contemporary agendas," said Upadhyay. "The atrocities committed by these figures are well-documented and any effort to sanitize their legacy is an affront to the victims and to historical truth."
The advocate called for a balanced and honest examination of history, free from political or ideological bias. He urged historians and lawmakers to ensure that the narratives of such controversial figures are presented accurately, reflecting the true nature of their actions and the suffering they caused.
Upadhyay's remarks have sparked a renewed discussion on how historical events and figures are interpreted and taught in India, highlighting the ongoing struggle to reconcile past injustices with present-day perspectives.
