Telangana will experience a significant enhancement in the aviation industry and infrastructure sector, as new airports and the ropeway projects are getting near to implementation. The airports are to be constructed in Warangal, Adilabad, and Ramagundam, whereas the ropeway services are to be established in important pilgrimage and heritage areas, Yadagirigutta among them. The government of the state anticipates that passenger and cargo flight operations will start next year.

The Roads and Buildings Department’s two-year progress report, aligned with the vision of Telangana Rising–2047, highlights that preliminary works for making the new airports operational have already begun. The government noted that Warangal airport will also offer cargo services, which is expected to significantly improve freight movement and reduce logistics costs across the region.

As part of the broader infrastructure push under the Telangana Rising Global Summit–2047 framework, projects worth ₹60,799 crore have been announced to strengthen connectivity and urban development. A major focus has been placed on constructing “mirror-smooth” roads, with 419 roads set to be developed in 32 packages at a cost of ₹11,399 crore using the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).

To enhance road safety, approvals have been granted for rectifying accident-prone black spots on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway at a cost of ₹288 crore. In addition, a detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared for a six-lane road project estimated at ₹10,400 crore. The ambitious Regional Ring Road project is expected to cost around ₹36,000 crore.

Further plans include the Hyderabad–Srisailam elevated corridor, with a new stretch from Mannanur to Srisailam estimated at ₹8,000 crore. Tenders have also been invited to appoint a consultant for preparing the DPR for the Hyderabad–Amaravati–Machilipatnam highway.

In the segment concerning tourism and heritage, the government is working on proposals for the construction of ropeways in Hanuman Konda, Yadagirigutta, Nalgonda, Nagarjunasagar, and the Manthani Ramagiri forts, intending to make the locations easier to reach and attract more visitors.

The report also noted that approvals have been granted for 239 infrastructure works worth ₹6,617.86 crore, covering 1,659 km of roads and 62 bridges. The Roads and Buildings Department has seen significant administrative strengthening, with large-scale promotions carried out over the past two years.

Moreover, construction activities of over one crore square feet area, carried out at a cost of approximately ₹7,000 crore during the last two years, are anticipated to be finished and operational next year. The state government was optimistic that the Indian Road Congress conference scheduled for next year would be a significant factor in bringing further investments and speeding up the development of important sectors.
