Monsoon Mayhem: Heavy Rains Shut Down Schools and Colleges in Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru, Karnataka – The skies have opened up over Dakshina Kannada, unleashing a torrent of rain that has brought daily life to a halt for students across the district. In response to the unyielding downpour, Deputy Commissioner Darshan H.V. officially declared a holiday for all Anganwadis, schools, and Pre-University (PU) colleges on Thursday.
The relentless rainfall has particularly impacted Mangaluru, Bantwal, and Sullia taluks, transforming low-lying areas into submerged zones. Familiar landmarks such as Kottara Chowki, Malemar, and the bustling Mahaveer (Pumpwell) Junction found themselves under several feet of water, disrupting traffic and daily commutes.
Demonstrating proactive leadership, DC Darshan H.V. was on the ground in the pre-dawn hours of Thursday, personally assessing the extent of the flooding. His tour included critical areas like Battagudda in Bejai, Arya Samaj Road, Malemar, Ullas Nagar in Kavoor, and the extensively affected Mahaveer (Pumpwell) Circle, underscoring the district administration's commitment to monitoring the situation closely.
As the monsoon continues its powerful sweep, residents are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
