Prime Minister Narendra Modi used a notably brief message—just 26 words—on X (formerly Twitter) to acknowledge Jagdeep Dhankhar’s resignation as Vice President, offering only well-wishes for his health. The terse statement surprised many, even among BJP leaders, and has intensified speculation surrounding Dhankhar’s sudden exit.

According to anonymous government sources, Dhankhar resigned after allegedly engaging in "heated exchanges" with senior BJP figures. These tensions reportedly arose when he accepted an Opposition notice in the Rajya Sabha to impeach Justice Yashwant Verma—a move seen as undermining the government’s strategy to initiate impeachment in the Lok Sabha.

Modi’s message—posting well after Dhankhar’s announcement—struck a noticeably cold tone, lacking the customary warmth or acknowledgement of Dhankhar’s service. Critics, including some in the BJP, read it as a sign of deep-seated unease following the resignation.

Meanwhile, opposition leaders argue that Dhankhar was denied a proper farewell in the Rajya Sabha, suggesting his resignation was a "forced exit", masked as a health-related decision. The suddenness of his departure—just days after confirming he’d serve until 2027—adds to the intrigue.
