MCA Launches Probe Into Patanjali Ayurved

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has launched a probe into the dealings of Ramdev-led Patanjali Ayurved under Section 210 of the Companies Act, 2013. Sources told CNBC-TV18 that the “Directorate General of Investigations under the MCA has sent a formal notice to the company, marking the beginning of a probe into its financial and operational conduct.”
This development comes after the governments received various inputs from multiple financial and enforcement agencies, which is expected to be completed within three months.
Under Section 210, the government can initiate an investigation if it suspects irregularities in a company’s operations or deems it necessary in the public interest. Additionally, multiple financial transactions by the company have come under scrutiny from the MCA, sources said.
Notably, Patanjali Ayurved has faced multiple instances of scrutiny in the past from financial enforcement agencies, including the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), the Income Tax Department, and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
