A 51-year-old man was arrested in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly sending a terror threat to Mumbai, claiming that 34 “human bombs” had been planted across the city. Police say the accused, Ashwini Kumar from Patliputra, Bihar, made the threat to frame a friend, revealing personal motives behind the alarming message.

Ashwini Kumar, who has been living in Noida for the past five years and works as an astrologer, is being brought to Mumbai. Authorities have seized his phone and SIM cards for investigation.

The arrest came shortly after the Mumbai Traffic Police received a WhatsApp message warning that 14 Pakistani terrorists had entered India and that 400 kg of RDX would be used in blasts. The message claimed to be from the organisation “Lashkar-e-Jihadi,” Mumbai Police said.

The timing of the threat coincided with Ganesh Visarjan celebrations in Mumbai, prompting heightened security and vigilance across the city.

Personal Dispute Behind Threat

According to the FIR, Ashwini Kumar sent the terror threat to the Mumbai Traffic Police to implicate his friend, Firoz. The two had a long-standing feud, and Ashwini had previously spent three months in jail in 2023 following a case filed by Firoz in Phulwari Sharif, Patna.

During his arrest, police recovered seven mobile phones, three SIM cards, six memory card holders, an external SIM slot, two digital cards, four SIM card holders, and one memory card holder from Ashwini's possession.

Mumbai Police continue to investigate the case and have assured the public of strict action against anyone attempting to spread terror.
