Maharashtra Local Body Election Results Live: Counting of votes for all 286 municipal councils and nagar panchayats began at 10 am on Sunday, setting the stage for a decisive verdict in the grassroots civic polls conducted in two phases—December 2 and December 21.
The contests largely pitted the BJP-led Mahayuti (BJP, Shiv Sena–Eknath Shinde, and NCP–Ajit Pawar) against the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance of Congress, NCP (Sharad Pawar), and Shiv Sena (UBT).
High Stakes, Strong Turnout
The first phase witnessed a 67.6% turnout, with Baramati recording 67% and the newly formed Phursungi–Uruli Devachi area logging 59.7%. In two councils—Angar (Solapur) and Dondaicha (Dhule)—candidates were elected unopposed.
Polling in the second phase saw an overall turnout of 63.02%, despite reports of clashes, impersonation attempts, cash distribution, and EVM-related delays in several districts.

Key Early Trends
BJP leading in multiple municipal councils
Shiv Sena (Shinde) and NCP (Ajit Pawar) also strong
MVA holds ground in pockets like Chandrapur and Sangli
Several high-profile family members of BJP and NCP leaders are ahead in their respective constituencies
Clashes, impersonation cases (notably 208 women detained in Ambernath), and FIRs over cash distribution in Nanded overshadowed an otherwise smooth polling process.
With the Mahayuti leading decisively, the results indicate strong grassroots support for the ruling alliance. The BJP continues to dominate, while the Shiv Sena (Shinde) solidifies its identity battle by projecting itself as the “real Shiv Sena.”
These outcomes are expected to significantly influence the upcoming municipal corporation elections, seen as a major test of urban political dominance in Maharashtra.
