India's spectacular Ganesh Visarjan marks the end of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations today. Millions of devotees say goodbye to Lord Ganesha on Anant Chaturdashi, when they immerse idols in rivers, lakes, and the sea as part of the 10-day celebration that started on August 27.

Mumbai: Devotee-Filled Streets

The famous Ganesh Gali Ka Raja immersion ceremony drew lakhs of devotees to Lalbaug in Mumbai. Despite sporadic showers, processions of well-known mandals, like Tejukaya and Ganesh Gully, started their trip towards immersion locations, and the city was filled with the sounds of dhol-tasha.

In Mumbai, about 21,000 police officers have been stationed to maintain efficient traffic and crowd control. Drones and CCTV cameras with AI capabilities are also being used by authorities to watch processions in real time.

Pune: Manacha Ganpati Takes the Lead

Early in the morning, the first and most revered idol in Pune, the "Manacha," from the Kasba Ganpati mandal, started its immersion procession. Throughout the day, a number of additional mandals will be held, adorning the city's streets with vivid hues.

Hyderabad: Immersion of Khairatabad Bada Ganesh

The enormous idol travelled from the mandapam to Hussain Sagar Lake as part of the grand Khairatabad Bada Ganesh Shobha Yatra in Hyderabad. While police maintained traffic flow and security, devotees crowded the streets and chanted prayers.

Leaders Say "Hello"

In their greetings on Anant Chaturdashi, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis wished everyone peace, prosperity, and the blessings of Lord Ganesha. Nayab Singh Saini, the chief minister of Haryana, also offered his best wishes and prayed for joy and health.

Safety and Traffic Measures

Due to the heavy processions taking place in the Western suburbs, the Mumbai Traffic Police has issued advisories for commuters. Drones and surveillance cameras are helping thousands of officers control the heavy traffic and crowds.
