Kerala Backs ADEETIE Scheme, Hails It a Game-Changer, to Prepare Comprehensive Action Plan to Make ADEETIE a National Role Model

In a major boost to India’s MSME ecosystem—widely regarded as the backbone of the economy employing millions and driving innovation—the Government of Kerala has announced full support to the centrally sponsored ADEETIE (Assistance in Deploying Energy Efficient Technologies in Industry and Establishments) scheme.
The initiative, backed by the Ministry of Power and implemented by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), is gaining strong momentum across the country.
As part of the National ADEETIE Series, Kerala formally welcomed the scheme and thanked BEE for selecting the Fisheries Cluster in Kochi as one of the first MSME clusters in India to benefit from the program. Speaking on the occasion, K.R. Jyothi Lal, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance), Government of Kerala, described ADEETIE as a “great boon to MSMEs,” highlighting its transformative potential for industrial growth and sustainability. He advised the Industries Department of Kerala to prepare a comprehensive action plan in coordination with the Energy Management Centre (State Designated Agency) Kerala to ensure effective implementation of the scheme.
Jyothi Lal added that ADEETIE could become a “true game-changer” for MSMEs across the State.
To mark the selection of the Kochi Fisheries Cluster, the Additional Chief Secretary unveiled a Special Report and Communication Strategy Document on promoting ADEETIE, prepared by A. Chandra Sekhara Reddy, Media Adviser, BEE & EESL, Ministry of Power.
Jyothi Lal requested Ministry of Power and Dhiraj Kumar Srivastava DG-BEE to consider extending ADEETIE benefits to additional MSME clusters in Kerala, enabling both economic and environmental gains.
Reaffirming Kerala’s strong resolve to combat climate change, Jyothi Lal said:
“Making our key industrial clusters energy efficient is not just cost-effective—it enhances productivity, strengthens MSMEs, and leads to sustainable economic development. We want Kerala to become a national role model in ADEETIE implementation.”
He added that Kerala will work closely with BEE and EESL at the national level to achieve this objective.
Jyothi Lal said, it is pertinent to note that recently on behalf of AP Government Dr. N. Yuva Raj announced support to the ADEETIE scheme for the benefit of MSMEs and mentioned MOUs entered during CII Partnership Summit.
In this connection Kerala government's Additional CS also appreciated the strong collaboration between the Government of Andhra Pradesh, BEE, and EESL in advancing climate action through timely implementation of Energy Efficiency programs.
He recalled participating in the Andhra Pradesh Finance Department–sponsored global program during the recent CII Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam, where his presentation on Economic Growth Models for Kerala infrastructure development was highly appreciated by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
KR. Jyothi Lal lauded Andhra Pradesh for signing three major MoU’s in a single day with EESL for large-scale adoption of Energy Efficiency technologies for three Key areas such as MSMEs, Urban LED Street lighting, and tourism Promotion.
