IPL 2024: RCB not to change too many things after CSK loss, says Anuj Rawat, PC: IPL

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hopes to bounce back from their loss against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) when they take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their first home match of the IPL 2024 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 25.

RCB started well with captain Faf du Plessis going hammer and tongs against the CSK new-ball bowlers but lost the plot after the power play only to be revived by Anuj Rawat, who scored a 25-ball 48, to lend some respectability to the total.

The bowlers were below-par and did not strangulate CSK well enough as the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side romped home with ease.

However, at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB would hope for fortunes to change and Rawat said there was no reason to panic (after one loss) and change their process.

“We are following the same process as the last match (against CSK). We are looking forward to our home games and hoping to win all of them,” Rawat said, ahead of RCB’s match against PBKS.

Rawat said he is enjoying the role of a wicket-keeper batter, mostly batting in the lower order and giving his team the required impetus to score briskly at the death. “The communication from our team management is clear. I will bat down the order, and if we lose early wickets, then I will bat in the middle-order,” Rawat added.

He added that he is growing in confidence and hopes that as the season goes on, he will contribute much more than he would like to. “Last season also, I kept wickets in a few games, and it gave me more confidence, and as this season goes on, I am looking forward to contributing more as a wicketkeeper batsman,” he added.
