In a powerful response to escalating cross-border aggression, the Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out a series of carefully planned airstrikes under Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). According to senior military officials, the operation—executed on the night of May 7—resulted in the elimination of over 100 terrorists, dealing a significant blow to terror infrastructure.

In a high-level press briefing held in Delhi, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti, Vice Admiral AN Pramod, and Major General Sandeep S Sharda shared details of the mission and the events leading up to it.

The operation was launched after Pakistani forces initiated a drone swarm attack. Indian air defence systems successfully neutralized most of the incoming drones. During the retaliation, a key radar facility in Lahore was destroyed, officials confirmed.

"On the ground, our troops responded with force, causing heavy losses to Pakistani personnel along the Line of Control," said Lt Gen Ghai. "Roughly 35 to 40 Pakistani troops were killed in the ensuing exchange of fire."

Air Marshal Bharti added that Pakistani drones attempted to strike several IAF installations but were effectively intercepted. "There was no damage on Indian soil," he affirmed. He further stated that a strategic decision was made to deliver a calibrated strike that would have maximum impact.

"The response was swift and precise. We hit air bases, command centres, and key infrastructure across Pakistan’s western front," he said. "This operation sends a clear message—India will not tolerate aggression."

The military leadership emphasized that all targets were selected with the intent to minimize civilian casualties, underlining India's commitment to responsible military conduct even in the face of provocation.
