Rising Infections in Key States:
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare shared state-wise updates, pointing to a steady rise in infections in densely populated areas:
Delhi: 64 new cases
Uttar Pradesh: 63 new cases
West Bengal: 60 new cases
Gujarat: 108 new cases
Gujarat's active caseload has now reached 461, with 20 patients hospitalised and the remainder in home isolation.
COVID-19-Related Deaths:
The seven recent deaths occurred primarily among individuals with pre-existing medical conditions:
Delhi: A 22-year-old woman with a history of treated pulmonary tuberculosis, Covid pneumonia, and Type 1 respiratory failure.
Maharashtra (4 deaths):
A 55-year-old man with cardiac arrhythmia and COPD
A 73-year-old man with cardiogenic shock and Parkinson’s disease
A 23-year-old woman with diabetes and hypertension
A 27-year-old man with ischemic heart disease and chronic bronchitis
Tamil Nadu: A 76-year-old man with ARDS, sepsis, and multi-organ failure
Gujarat: One death reported; details pending
First Case in Himachal Pradesh:
Himachal Pradesh has reported its first case in this wave. An 82-year-old woman tested positive at Nahan Medical College and Hospital after showing symptoms of cold and cough, confirmed by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Amitabh Jain.
Health Authorities on Alert:
Despite low hospitalisation numbers, the steady increase in daily infections and fatalities has triggered heightened surveillance, especially in metro areas and high-density zones. Health experts continue to advise:
