India to Launch First Made-in-India Semiconductor Chip by 2025-End, Says PM Modi; 6G Development in Full Swing
India’s first Made-in-India semiconductor chip will launch by 2025-end, PM Modi confirms. Work on 6G network, EV exports, and major reforms also in progress.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces India’s first Made-in-India semiconductor chip by 2025-end, alongside rapid progress on 6G development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced that India will roll out its first indigenously manufactured semiconductor chip by the end of 2025. Speaking at The Economic Times World Leaders Forum, Modi also highlighted that the country is moving rapidly towards developing a Made-in-India 6G network, reinforcing the government’s vision of technological self-reliance.
The Prime Minister noted that while India missed the opportunity to enter chip manufacturing 50–60 years ago, the present government has ensured that semiconductor fabs are now coming up across the country, paving the way for chip production to begin soon.
“By the end of this year, the first Made-in-India semiconductor chip will hit the market. Alongside, India is progressing rapidly on developing a Made-in-India 6G,” Modi said.
India’s Reform Push and Economic Outlook
PM Modi emphasized that India, guided by the mantra of “Reform, Perform, Transform,” is now positioned to become the world’s third-largest economy. He highlighted that India’s contribution to global growth could soon reach 20%, driven by strong macroeconomic stability.
He pointed out that despite challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic, India’s fiscal deficit is projected to fall to 4.4%, while domestic companies continue to raise record funds from capital markets.
