India Slams China’s Attempt to Rename Places in Arunachal Pradesh

India has hit back at China for its attempts to rename various parts of Arunachal Pradesh. A statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday morning said that ‘Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always remain an integral part of India.’
Reacting to the latest developments, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We have noticed that China has persisted with its vain and preposterous attempts to name places in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Consistent with our principled position, we reject such attempts categorically.”
The MEA spokesperson added, “Creative naming will not alter the undeniable reality that Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India.”
In the past as well, China has repeatedly issued statements regarding Arunachal Pradesh. Beijing, which claims Arunachal Pradesh as a part of its territory, has persistently made attempts to rename several locations within the northeastern Indian state.
The border separating the two nations has been a source of friction for many years. The state shares its border with Tibet. While New Delhi has administered Arunachal Pradesh as an integral part of India since Independence and has since expanded its control over the Northeast, Beijing has consistently stood its ground, citing historical ties with Tibet.
