Swedish home furnishing giant IKEA India has opened its inaugural city-format store in Delhi, nestled within Pacific Mall, Tagore Garden. The 15,000 sq ft outlet showcases over 2,000 home décor products, with 800 items available for instant purchase. It also offers digital planning tools, personalized interior advice, and the brand’s Swedish Café—with larger items available via online order and home delivery.

This launch is a key component of IKEA’s “One Click, 30 Minutes Away” omnichannel blueprint—blending e-commerce, large-format stores, compact city outlets, and specialized Plan & Order Points. Large-format stores are also under construction in Gurugram and Noida.

IKEA India’s incoming CEO, Patrick Antoni, emphasized a rapid expansion plan, stating the company is strengthening its supply chain and ramping up local manufacturing to deliver more affordable products faster.

Outgoing CEO & CSO, Sussane Pulverer, added that while revenue increased by 5% last year, losses also widened—a reflection of the brand’s long-term investment strategy.

A major highlight: IKEA intends to raise its local sourcing in India from the current 30% to 50% by 2030. This shift is aimed at enhancing affordability, sustainability, and job creation through a stronger Indian supply ecosystem.

IKEA India has also completed its initial ₹10,500 crore investment commitment and is readying a new phase of expansion, with potential new large-format stores planned in Chennai and Pune.
