iBomma Founder Immadi Ravi Arrested in Hyderabad for Massive Movie Piracy Operation

iBomma founder Mr. Immadi Ravi by Cyberabad officials within hours of his arrival from France in Hyderabad late on Friday night signified that a relentless crackdown on digital piracy has begun. Mr. Ravi, who had been under their radar for several years, was taken into custody immediately after disembarking at the airport.
A top official from the police department said iBomma was housed in the Caribbean islands, far from the jurisdiction of the Indian law. In the operation, significant damage was caused to the Telugu film industry, as well as damage to other industries, mainly through the penetration of original films from the very first day of their release.
While it threw films across several languages into the well-known piracy stream, with the rubric of the cybercrime wing in all their years of observation.
The police had earlier been evoked by senior film stakeholders allowing the illegal act of making movies available online within hours of their release. The film had been ruined. I do not think anyone was spared. Be it producers, distributors or exhibitors, this is the extent of the destruction brought about in the industry.
A Grievance That Lasted Long—Patchwork with an Arrest
The Cyberabad police have admitted to constant complaints received over a span of many years regarding piracy issues against iBomma. With industry pressure building up and laws to curb cyber terror being honed, authorities spruced up their efforts to ensure they could bring Ravi and his global activities to book.
This action against him is one of the key advanced steps against piracy happening in this country.
More details will come as investigations unfold, and an official press note will be issued later.
