Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills, Himayatnagar Among Asia-Pacific’s Top Shopping Streets

Hyderabad makes a foray into the grandeur of the global retailing space, ascribed true value with Banjara Hills and Himayatnagar taking a place in the 50 most prestigious retail streets in the Asia-Pacific region. This accolade has been bestowed upon Hyderabad as cited in the Cushman & Wakefield "Main Streets Across the World 2025" report.
These two localities, with headline rents touching USD 30 per sq ft per year (that is around ₹2,680 per sq ft), are jointly crowned No. 48 on the list. This particular recognition leaves astride Hyderabad as one with the name in the Asia-Pacific index from the Telugu-speaking states and cements its rapidly burgeoning retail strength and global magnetism on the world stage.
Two precincts, double faces of retail.
The Formerly Banjara Hills stands as a church for chic and grandeur. With its calm and upscale setting, the precinct is home to premium boutiques, designer logos, luxury cafés, and flagship brand stores, apart from curated lifestyle spaces. The aura of refined experience and high-end credit continues to lure attention from major national and international brands desperate for some visibility and recognition.
Himayatnagar, on the other hand, depicts the energetic, teeming side of Hyderabadi retail culture. A classic high street, its success lies in two factors: accessibility for all and high footfall. The streets of Himayatnagar boast a few jewellery shops, a pawn shop or two, and dozens of bakeries, bookshops, apparel stores, stationery shops, and eateries. With consistently high foot traffic, the premises never ceases to allure brands keen on targeting everyday shoppers and loyal local customers.
Why rankings matter
Cushman and Wakefield's annual report judges prime retail streets worldwide by a few key indicators that include rental values, brand demand, consumer behavior, and walking pattern trends. Daniel's entry in these global indexes indicates that Hyderabad's market is no longer merely a fresher on the international market.
This distinction acknowledges the rapid evolution of Hyderabad's iconic high streets at a moment when global brands are coming here and local businesses are booming, in such a manner that it seamlessly weaves together global aspirations and local character and charm.
