Hyderabad is set for a major urban transformation as the Telangana government announced plans to extend Metro Rail and RTC bus services until 2 AM, ensuring safe and convenient late-night travel across the city. The move is part of the ambitious ‘Telangana Rising – 2047’ vision unveiled at the Telangana Rising Global Summit, which has already attracted investments worth several lakh crores.

Under the long-term roadmap, the government aims to transform Hyderabad into a global city, a Net-Zero City, and eventually the Night-Time Capital of South Asia. The 83-page vision document introduces a distinctive development framework by dividing the state into Cure, Pure, and Rare zones, enabling targeted and sustainable growth.

To boost nightlife, tourism, and economic activity, key areas such as Madhapur, Gachibowli, Jubilee Hills, Tank Bund, Old City, and the Airport corridor will be designated as official night zones. To support this expanded night-time ecosystem, Metro and RTC services will operate till 2 AM, benefiting IT professionals, tourists, students, and late-night workers.

The plan also focuses on cultural revival and tourism expansion. A flagship initiative, ‘Hyderabad After Dark Mile’, will feature night bazaars, food streets, and cultural events stretching from Charminar to Golconda via Tank Bund. Additionally, a unified ‘Telangana Pass’ will be launched to simplify travel, hotel bookings, and entry tickets for tourists.

To further strengthen tourism, Telangana has identified 27 major tourist circuit areas. Proposed initiatives include helicopter services over destinations such as Somasila, Ramappa, Nagarjunasagar, and Kaleshwaram, mountaineering facilities in Bhuvanagiri, eco-trails in Amrabad and Kawwal forests, and the development of resorts near tiger sanctuary zones.

Officials believe these initiatives will significantly boost tourism, generate large-scale employment, and position Hyderabad as a modern global city with a vibrant night-time economy, aligning with the state’s long-term development goals.
