Hyderabad, November 10: It heightened general security in Hyderabad after the powerful car blast claimed nine lives and injured more than 23 around 5:00 p.m. on Monday near the historic Delhi Red Fort.

Since that fatal blast, the Hyderabad police have tightened vehicle checking, heightened monitoring, and patrolling at all important junctions, lodges, and public places. Urging citizens to stay alert, City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said: "Report anything suspicious or unattended to the police control room at 100."

Security Tight Matrix

Teams from numerous police stations were sent for round-the-clock inspection of hotels, lodges, and highways. "We are keeping heightened vigilance with regard to the Red Fort incident. Citizens' cooperation is important to keep safe," said Commissioner Sajjanar.

According to visuals from the capital, vehicles were engulfed in flames, and glass panes were shattered in buildings nearby after a terrifying blast at the vicinity of Red Fort-a busy place often flocked by tourists and locals.

Blast Investigation Underway

Until now, the authorities have been unable to ascertain the exact nature of the blast; however, they believe that high-grade explosives were used. The NIA has reached the site for gathering forensic evidence, and ascertaining terror links.

Meanwhile, the Delhi police have declared an alert over the city, with security tightened at all transport hubs, headquarters of government offices, and historical monuments.

Alarm Raised with Arrest Linked to Haryana

Just hours before the explosion at Red Fort, Haryana police had arrested a Kashmiri doctor at Faridabad in alleged possession of huge quantities of explosives and ammunition, in coordination with J&K police.

The accused, Dr. Muzammil, was apprehended at Dhauj, and from him were recovered nearly 360 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate, along with weapons and detonators. Reportedly associated with the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, Dr. Muzammil, who used to teach at Al Falah University, had been wanted in a terror case at Srinagar. Nation on Edge

The lethal Red Fort blast has once again severely challenged national security considerations, escalating anti-terror protocols in all major cities, Hyderabad among them.

Authorities have proposed in the media for citizens to keep calm but exercise caution, stressing how citizen vigilance is itself a major safeguard in averting further massacre.
