The newly opened ₹1,200-crore Lake Shore Mall at Y-Junction, Kukatpally, redefining shopping and entertainment in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad continues to strengthen its reputation as a retail and lifestyle hub with the launch of another large-scale shopping destination. The newly opened Lake Shore Mall, which has cost ₹1,200 crores in total and has now opened its doors to the public, is one more addition to the city's already great list of world-class malls.
The mall is located at the busy Y-junction that connects Kukatpally and Balanagar roads. The area of the mall is almost 1.6 million square feet. According to Ashwin Puri, co-founder of Lake Shore, the project was conceived in 2017 to cater to the existing demand of a large shopping and entertainment centre in the western part of Hyderabad, beyond Hi-Tech City and Financial District. The mall will be containing around 250 retail outlets, with international brands like UK-based NEXT and Dubai's Babyshop venturing into the Hyderabad market for the very first time.
Seamless Connectivity and Modern Facilities
For the sake of convenience, the shopping center is connected to the Y-Junction Metro Station by a special bridge. Besides that, the guests will have the advantage of the parking lots that can hold about 1,500 to 1,800 cars. Security has come first powered by the installation of modern fire safety systems along with the placement of more than 1,000 CCTV cameras in the area. The developers state that the mall is compliant with the international safety and infrastructure norms.
Retail, Dining and Entertainment Under One Roof
Beyond shopping, the mall aims to position itself as a major entertainment hub. PVR has established a nine-screen multiplex at the venue, including an IMAX auditorium and a dedicated kids’ screen. Popular brands across fashion, lifestyle, electronics and home décor—such as H&M, Lifestyle, Max, R&B, Home Centre and Reliance Digital—are part of the tenant mix. Over 40 food and beverage outlets are also set to open, with more than 150 stores becoming operational on the very first day.
‘The Park’ – A Community Space
The Park, an open-air community space on Level 5, is one of the very few selling points of the mall. The family-friendly area features children's playgrounds and seating areas for a calm atmosphere. Since no large-format shopping mall has been built in the area for almost eight years, the project is likely to attract a lot of residents from the Y-Junction and the nearby area. The mall is granted Gold Pre-Certification by the Indian Green Building Council as a sign of its commitment to sustainability.
Traffic Concerns Remain
The new mall, although it has been a source of great excitement to the people living nearby, has also been a reason for concerns regarding the traffic congestion. Kukatpally and the Y-Junction already suffer from traffic jams at peak hours. Moreover, the opening of other big malls in the city and the ensuing congestion have turned the locals into sceptics regarding the new mall, fearing the same problems to come. Nevertheless, officials have the opinion that the metro's direct connectivity could be one of the solutions to the situation by relieving traffic to some extent.
The combination of its size, excellent connectivity and a wide range of retail and entertainment, the new Lake Shore Mall is bound to be the main attraction in western Hyderabad and will, in this way, further change the city's urban and commercial landscape.
